Every group seems to have obnoxious jerks
But expecting that of others hardly ever works
Different tribes may share terrain but rarely common ground
I’ll never understand, so much of it around

Christian, Hindu, Muslim, Atheist or Jew
You don’t know me, but you think you do
Never ending cycle of tit-for-tat
Justify our actions doing this for that

See the world through lens of the group identity
Resentment of the others only feeds on enmity
Race or gender, politics or even simple sports
Living in a bubble leads to believing in the worst

East coast, west coast, alternative or rock
Classical or jazz, country or hip-hop
Make assumptions based on what we hear
Demonize the “other,” make our arguments from fear
